Ellie & Stephen
Let’s start from the beginning: Ellie and Stephen’s story began with a university night out in Leeds.
After Stephen made the first move and they discovered they lived just around the corner from one another, they began spending more and more time together.
Despite Ellie’s self-proclaimed poor hosting skills, Stephen continued going round for dinner and movie nights, and it was in third year when Stephen helped Ellie move into her house when he knew she was his person.
The Proposal
The proposal took place in Iceland during Ellie’s 30th birthday trip to Iceland.
On the final morning, they woke up early to catch the sunrise and as Ellie turned around after admiring the view, Stephen was on one knee.
Then come big decisions…weddings! We asked the couple what their priorities were when planning the big day and they said “great food, great location to make the most of the (hopeful) weather, and a great space to enjoy the wedding”.
Roger that!
The Planning
Weddings can be stressful; but we think they actually have an unjust reputation!
With a fantastic wedding planner, it’s smooth. Ellie told us the process “wasn’t anywhere near as stressful as we thought it would be”, and “Kelly was so warm and friendly”. “She answered every question, all the small silly ones. Made the experience so personal!
The two members of staff who helped us on the actual day were incredible and helped everything flow so perfectly without us having to do so much as lift a finger or make a decision”.
That’s an important point – as the bride and groom all of your decisions come before the day.
On the day, you have one simple agenda: enjoy.
The decisions
Talking of decisions, we asked Ellie and Stephen how they came to settle on Hazlewood Castle, and it turns out they had previously attended a wedding at Hazlewood and loved everything about it – so it was their turn.
When they arrived for their visit, they “just knew”.
The outdoor features sealed the deal, and they wove this theme throughout their styling.
The guests adored the courtyard and they particularly enjoyed capturing shots at the back of the Castle with the rolling fields behind them – true Yorkshire!
The Morning of the Wedding
On the morning of the big day Ellie spent time with her bridesmaids getting ready slowly, and Stephen enjoyed breakfast in the courtyard with his groomsmen and family.
Nerves kicked in for Ellie around thirty minutes before walking down the aisle, but Stephen was his normal “cool, calm and collected self” – aided by our planner running their day!
A relaxed wedding day
Speeches, the evening do, how relaxed it was, cutting the cake with Frodo’s sword – everything was planned to perfection and executed with such elegance.
Ellie said the most unexpected part of the day was how relaxed and stress-free it was – bingo. Our aim? To handle everything and keep everyone relaxed!
The couple said “from start to finish the whole team was incredible, from afternoon tea, our food tasting, to the big day. Everyone involved cares as much about your wedding as you do. They do everything they can to create a stress-free day for you and are totally wonderful. We couldn’t recommend Hazlewood more”
That final paragraph sums it up – only the best at Hazlewood!
